Projeto Acupuntura Rocinha (PAR)
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
The TCM Community supports Projeto Acupuntura Rocinha (PAR), Rio de Janeiro
The TCM Community is proud to support Projeto Acupuntura Rocinha, an inspiring grassroots initiative in Rio de Janeiro that improves access to acupuncture for residents referred by local public health clinics.
During a recent on-site visit, The TCM Community contributed a targeted donation of acupuncture needles, made possible through the generous support of AsiaMed. This contribution directly strengthens the project’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality care within the community.
PAR is led with dedication and professionalism by Dr. Julia D’Ippolito and physiotherapist Wagner Rocha Gonçalves. Their work demonstrates how integrative medicine can make a tangible difference in public health settings, especially in communities where access to complementary care is limited.
Beyond direct donations, The TCM Community actively supports PAR by helping to mobilise sponsors, building international awareness, and contributing financially where possible. By connecting practitioners, suppliers, and partners across borders, we aim to create sustainable support structures for initiatives that embody ethical practice, community care, and social responsibility.
We believe that meaningful partnerships, shared responsibility, and long-term commitment are essential to the future of Traditional Chinese Medicine worldwide. Supporting projects such as PAR reflects our mission to strengthen TCM not only through education and research, but also through concrete action where it matters most.

Dr. Samson Cheung holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from UC Davis, earned in 1989. For three decades, he worked at NASA Ames Research Center, where he developed strong expertise in scientific logic and analytical thinking. Driven by a deep love for Chinese culture, he devoted years to studying classical philosophy and traditional Chinese wisdom such as the "I Ching", Zi Wei Dou Shu (Chinese Astrology), Bazi, (Four Pillars of Destiny) and Feng Shui.
Driven by his desire to share this knowledge, he founded the non-profit School of Yimutology in the San Francisco Bay Area, making these ancient practices more accessible to the community.
Later, he devoted himself to the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). His dedication led him to become an Assistant Professor at Five Branches University where he teaches both Master's and Doctoral students. Dr. Cheung has focused on publishing research on TCM, with a special emphasis on applying modern discoveries to Chinese medicine. In his classes, he encourages open-minded exploration and helps students bridge the gap between different healing traditions. Whether mentoring future practitioners or sharing insights through public seminars, Dr. Cheung continues to inspire others with his interdisciplinary approach and enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
