An interview with Yuri Miziara of Miziara Terapias that took place on September 6th 2023 in Rio De Janeiro, Brasil. Yuri talks about different styles of Japanese acupuncture.

The TCM Community team visited VetMétodo Clinic in São Paulo. We went to partake in a wonderful project of Community Acupuncture, spearheaded by Dr. Julia D'Ippolito and Wagner Rocha Gonçalves. Rochinha (little farm) is the largest community in Brazil, located in Rio De Janeiro’s South Zone between the districts of São Conrado and Gávea. Rocinha is built on a steep hillside overlooking Rio de Janeiro, and is located about one kilometer from a nearby beach. Most of the community is on a very steep hill, with many trees surrounding it. Around 200,000 people live in Rocinha. There are a number of community organizations at work in Rocinha, including neighbourhood associations and numerous NGO’s and non-profit educational and cultural institutions. Rocinha is home to most of the service workers in Zona Sul (the South Zone of Rio)

Prof. Dr. Volker Scheid (PhD., BA (Hons), FRCHM, MBAcC), has been practicing Chinese medicine in his own practice since 1984 and teaching in Germany, England, the USA, Australia and other European countries since 1995. As the principal author of the second revised edition of Formulas and Strategies and the Handbook of Chinese Medical Formulas, he is one of the leading authorities on Chinese formulary in the West. For over twenty years, he has combined this activity with internationally renowned interdisciplinary research in the field of East Asian medicine and history of science. In this interview, he talks about his three year post-graduate certification course, in which Prof. Volker Scheid significantely enhances our understanding of Chinese medicine by teaching meta-practice, a tool for working effectively with different styles of practice. Developing meta-practice skills deepens our access to and comprehension of the sources of our tradition.

An interview with Diego Marquete of ITM São Paulo. The Dharma Institute was founded by professor Diego Marquete, integrating professionals and teachers trained at the ITM School in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Physiotherapist, postgraduate student in Acupuncture and Phytotherapy, specialist in TMJ Dysfunction, Visceral and Neural Osteopathy, Diego, developed an interest in Thai massage in 2004, starting his studies at the Kam Thye Chow school. He traveled to Thailand, studying in several schools and with renowned teachers and traditional doctors and today, he coordinates the ITM SCHOOL project in São Paulo and João Pessoa, together with a team of teachers and therapists.

An interview with Dr. Julia D'Ippolito, an MD specialized in acupuncture who runs a project with physical therapist Wagner Rocha Gonçalves in Rocinha, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil to provide free TCM healthcare.

Dr. Reginaldo Filho is the founder and president of Faculdade EBRAMEC (The Brazilian College of Chinese Medicine), which has consolidated itself as the largest Chinese Medicine Brazilian institution, focusing on teaching, treating and research. He is a physiotherapist, holds postgraduate degrees in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, as well as a Brazilian master's degree in health sciences. He is the first Brazilian national to have obtained a PhD degree in acupuncture and moxibustion in China from Shandong University of Chinese medicine. Dr. Reginaldo Filho has been promoting the knowledge and information he obtained both nationally and internationally. He will be a keynote speaker at the 6th Dutch TCM Congress, DTCMC 2023.
